Brace yourself for a Friday to blow your mind right off. Headlining with Leeds band Ashtray Navigations bringing their psychedelic noise rock experience to wake up sleepy Hebden. Active since 1991 and with an enormous discography, they exist in a confusing void between the worlds of experimental music and garage rock. As disorientating as they are fun, they are an unmissable live band.
Coming in the opposite direction from Manchester are the mighty Gnod. Is there anything else more cosmic in Manchester than Gnod? A blitzed-out blend of drone, krautrock, psyche, experimental and powerful rock ‘n’ roll. They’ve gigged all over and recorded two albums in collaboration with New York’s White Hills. Gnod are a collective group who will be heading over in a tight, stripped-down unit for a focussed attack on the senses.
Roman Nose, meanwhile, are heading up North from Sheffield to join us. They unite two generations of Sheffield experimental music, as they are a duo of Jon Marshall of The Hunter Gracchus and Charlie Collins of Clock DVA.
All these bands will conclude in time for the last trains to Leeds and Manchester but for those with no train to catch, we have one more special treat up our sleeve….Cookie Time! Named by Damo Suzuki and Hebden Bridge-based, the line-up currently features Ian Hinton-Smith of Beep Seals, Alfie, Jim Noir & Badly Drawn Boy fame and Mick West formerly of The Ukranians. Here’s some footage of an earlier line-up with Damo
Tickets are £6 (£4 members) and can be bought from the venue, Jumbo Records in Leeds and this here link: http://www.wegottickets.com/event/175412
