The Tor Ist Das? Festival (August 14th to 16th) is ready to tease you with another set of new announcements for our line up. You may recall we told you we had Nurse With Wound’s Andrew Liles playing the festival with Maniac from Mayhem? Yeah, that Mayhem – the Norwegian black metal pioneers! Well now they have expanded into a trio with the addition of Carl Stokes on drums. That’s Carl Stokes of seminal UK thrash band Cancer (also played with Assert, Unseen Terror and Current 93). How you like that?
More? How about some tape experiments, drone soundscapes and field recordings from Daniel Voigt? You might know him better by his previous recording name Hering und seine sieben Sachen which he has just retired or for his label Sic Sic which has managed a mighty output since 2009 of quality releases.
Or how about the mind-pummelling sonic assault of Girl Sweat? A one man onslaught somewhere between The Cramps, Cabaret Voltaire, early Swans and John Spencer Blues Explosion. BANG!
Considering there’s still early bird tickets left at £17 for the whole weekend, you’d be a chump to miss this one. Early birds can be bought from http://wasistdas.co.uk/toristdas/tickets
So, they join a line-up that already includes Ashtray Navigations, Chicaloyoh, Bird People, Lutine, Laura Cannell, Desmadrados Soldados De Ventura and Isnaj Dui. Two full days of folk, drone, experimental music and noise in the beautiful setting of Todmorden Unitarian Church. Plus a warm up party on the Friday and after parties at the superb Golden Lion pub. All for £10 less than it costs to go see UB40 in Halifax. Can’t say fairer than that?
